Unveiling

Today we had my mom’s unveiling, in the rain. There was something fitting about having her unveiling in the rain.

Rain can symbolize tears, but it can also represent renewal, cleansing, and new growth. And maybe today, it felt less like the weather was making an already difficult day gloomy and more like the world was pausing with me.

Seven and a half months later, I’m still learning that grief doesn’t follow a timeline. I miss my mom in ways I never expected, and today I gave myself permission to feel whatever emotions came my way.

Maybe the rain is a reminder that even after the hardest storms, things continue to grow. And while today was about remembering my mom and acknowledging the sadness of her absence, it was also about celebrating the love that will always remain.

Mom, I have comfort in knowing you’re together again with Nana and Auntie Lynne, two people you loved so deeply and talked about so often. I know how much you couldn’t wait to be with them again. I hope you’re laughing, catching up, and making up for all the time apart. And I know you’re also taking good care of Maggie for us, too. 🐾

Today, I stood in the rain, feeling the weight of your absence, but also feeling surrounded by the love and memories you left behind. Maybe the rain was a reminder that even through the tears and the hardest storms, love continues to grow and carry us forward.

I’ll keep carrying your love with me, Mom, always. ❤️‍🩹
