I’ve been riddled with an abundance of anxiety and panic. Some of it is the familiar kind I carry with me day to day, but lately there’s been a whole added layer. The constant stream of news about escalating violence and incidents targeting Jewish institutions sits heavily on my heart.
I work in a Jewish institution — a place that has brought meaning, purpose, and connection to my life over the past year. It is a space filled with prayer, learning, laughter, comfort, and community. And yet in recent days, those feelings have been overshadowed by fear and uncertainty.
It’s a strange and difficult thing when the place that nourishes your soul also becomes the place where your worries gather. When security measures that once faded into the background suddenly feel more visible and necessary. When the world outside our doors feels unpredictable and heavy.
There are moments when the anxiety creeps in quietly, and other moments when it arrives all at once. Moments when my thoughts race faster than I can slow them down. Moments when I feel panic rise in my chest and I struggle to take a full breath.
And yet, even in the midst of all of this, I am reminded why Jewish community matters so deeply.
Simply by coming together — to pray, to learn, to sing, to support one another — we quietly affirm something powerful: that Jewish life continues.
Our history teaches us that resilience is woven into the fabric of who we are. Generation after generation, Jews have faced moments in time that tested our sense of safety and belonging. And yet, we continue to build community. We continue to show up for one another. We continue to choose connection, tradition, and hope.
In times like these, unity becomes more than a value — it becomes a source of strength. When we stand together, support one another, and hold our community close, fear does not get to have the final word.
Working in Jewish communal life reminds me every day that strength does not mean the absence of fear. It means standing together despite it. It means leaning on one another and continuing to show up, even when our hearts feel heavy.
As Jews, resilience is woven into our story. And just as generations before us did, we will continue to support one another and move forward — together, with courage, faith, and hope, even through the anxiety and the panic, and in those moments when the weight of it all settles in my chest and it feels hard to breathe.
